Privacy policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
This policy explains how Apollos Trading Co (Pty) Ltd collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who we are
Apollos Trading Co (Pty) Ltd, trading as Apollos, registration number 2026/688984/07, is responsible for your personal information.
Address: 1F, 173 Oxford Rd, Rosebank, Johannesburg, 2196. Email: hello@apollos.co.za
2. Information we collect
- When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, and the details of your order. Our payment provider tells us whether your payment succeeded. We never see or store your full card details.
- When you subscribe to our emails: your email address, your name if you give it, and whether you open or click our emails.
- When you contact us: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and what you tell us.
- When you leave a review: the name you choose to display, your rating and your review.
- When you visit our website: your IP address, device and browser information, the pages you view, how you found us, and cookie identifiers.
Most of this comes directly from you. Some is collected automatically when you use the website, and some comes from our service providers, such as payment and delivery updates.
3. How we use your information
- To process, deliver and support your order, including returns and refunds.
- To keep the records that tax and company law require.
- To send you marketing emails, where you have agreed to receive them or where the law allows.
- To improve our website, prevent fraud, ask you to review a purchase, and measure and improve our advertising.
The details we need to process an order, namely your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and payment, are required. Without them we cannot sell or deliver to you. Everything else is voluntary. No law requires us to collect your personal information. We collect it because we need it to complete your order.
We do not collect information about your religious or philosophical beliefs, and we do not profile or target anyone on that basis.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business, and only as far as each of them needs it. These include our e-commerce platform, payment providers, couriers, email and review services, advertising and analytics platforms, and our professional advisers.
Advertising platforms receive information about how you use our website, and may receive contact details such as your email address or phone number, so that they can measure our advertising and show it to people likely to be interested. They also use this information under their own terms.
We may also disclose personal information where the law requires it.
5. Information sent outside South Africa
Some of our service providers store or process information outside South Africa, including in the United States and the European Union. We only use providers that are bound by laws or agreements giving your information a level of protection similar to POPIA, or where the transfer is needed to complete your order.
6. Marketing emails
We only send marketing emails if you have subscribed, or if you are a customer and the email is about products similar to the ones you bought. Every marketing email identifies us and includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing is free and takes effect immediately. We do not make marketing calls or send marketing by SMS or WhatsApp.
7. Cookies
We use cookies that are needed for the website to work, such as for your cart and checkout. With your consent, we also use analytics and advertising cookies to understand how the website is used and to measure our advertising. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie preferences link at the bottom of the website, or through your browser settings.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires. Order and transaction records are kept for at least five years for tax purposes. If you unsubscribe, we keep a record of your email address so that we do not email you again. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.
9. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including an encrypted website, restricted access and two-factor authentication on our accounts. If we believe your personal information has been accessed by an unauthorised person, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
10. Your rights
You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, to object to how we use it, to withdraw your consent at any time, and to opt out of marketing. To make a request, email hello@apollos.co.za. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. Some requests must be made on the forms prescribed under POPIA, which we will send you on request.
11. Our Information Officer
Our Information Officer can be reached at hello@apollos.co.za or at 1F, 173 Oxford Rd, Rosebank, Johannesburg, 2196.
12. Children
Our website is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
13. Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If a change materially affects information we already hold about you, we will let you know by email.
